Tiger Balm was named after a Chinese man called Gentle Tiger. With his brother, Gentle Leopard, he adapted his father’s formula and launched it in 1924.

What is tiger balm ingredients recipe?

The three main ingredients for tiger balm are:

  • camphor,
  • menthol,
  • essential oil of cloves.

Red tiger balm also contains cinnamon tree essential oil, cajeput oil and mint essential oil.

White tiger balm also contains eucalyptus essential oil.

What is red ointment used for?

Tiger balm red ointment can be mainly used for:

  • sinusitis,
  • cough,
  • cold,
  • muscle aches,
  • back pain,
  • joint pain,
  • headaches,

What is white tiger cream use?

As the formula for red and white tiger balms are different, the use is different.

I use red tiger cream for all the problems mentioned above as it gives a relaxing heating sensation while I use white tiger cream only against mosquito bites as it gives a cooling sensation.

I really prefer red tiger balm’s heating effect. That’s why, even if white tiger balm, containing eucalyptus, is recommended for flu and cold, I prefer to use the red one.

What does tiger balm do?

Tiger Balm sends cooling (white) or heating (red) sensations to nerve endings, stopping other signals from bites or pain.

It’s an anti-inflammatory, reducing inflammation and pain.

It also increases blood circulation.

What are tiger Balm effects?

Tiger balm can have effects on:

  • cold,
  • cough,
  • congestion,
  • flu,
  • migraine,
  • headache,
  • joint pain,
  • back pain,
  • muscle ache,
  • foot pain,
  • mosquito bite,
  • toenail fungus,
  • minor burn,
  • neuropathy,
  • osteoarthritis pain,
  • rheumatoid arthritis pain,
  • poor blood circulation,

How to use tiger balm for headaches?

Put tiger balm on your temples and massage. Do the same on the forehead.

Don’t forget to wash your hands carefully before and after.

Repeat up to four times per day.

Tiger balm for migraine.

If you suffer from migraine like me, you wonder if Tiger Balm can heal migraine.

This is what you can do with Tiger Balm when you begin having migraine symptoms. It’s more effective on early symptoms.

  • Have a temple, forehead and shoulder massage using Tiger Balm.
  • Put a sleep mask to reduce lighting discomfort and have a nap!

How to use tiger cream for back pain?

Apply on the affected areas and massage.

Repeat up to 4 times a day.

Does Tiger balm work for foot pain?

If your feet are sore, try to apply Tiger Balm and massage. Depending on how your feet feel and what they need, you can use the heating effect of the red one or the cooling effect of the white one.

Tiger balm for nasal congestion.

As my nasal congestions often turn into bronchitis, I do two things:

  • I put Tiger Balm under each nostril. Sometimes, I also boil water and have a steam bath.
  • I put Tiger Balm on the chest and massage.

How to use tiger balm for joint pain?

It’s always the same principle: put the balm on the affected areas and massage.

Tiger balm for toothache.

This is something I ignored for long… Apply the balm along the jawline (external use) and see the effect!

Should I use tiger balm for pimples?

The white balm would reduce eczema. I have no clue.

Does tiger balm help arthritis?

Yes. Tiger balm would help arthritis but again I have no clue.

Tiger balm and pregnancy.

Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Tiger balm burns.

White balm can be used on minor burns. On the opposite, if the balm burns too much after application, it may be an allergy and you should stop using it.

Tiger balm skin rash.

If you get skin rash after using the balm, it’s a skin allergy and you should immediately stop using it.

Is tiger balm safe?

Yes. They was a rumor: tiger balm would be illegal. It’s not! The reason of this rumor was that it’s not approved or regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It doesn’t need it indeed as it’s a topical remedy.

How to apply the balm?

For most problems:

  • Wash your hands.
  • Apply directly on the affected area.
  • Then do a massage until the balm is totally absorbed.
  • Repeat up to 4 times a day.
  • Wash your hands again very carefully.
  • Don’t have a bath 1 hour before and 30 minutes before applying.

Side effects.

Signs of an allergic reaction can include redness, swelling, and skin rash. Stop the treatment immediately.

It’s the same in case of breathing trouble after using it on the chest.
